CALL FOR LATE BREAKING ABSTRACTS – SSIEM VIRTUAL SYMPOSIUM 2020

Abstracts of exceptional originality and importance will be considered for oral presentation in the Late Breaking News Session on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 during the SSIEM Virtual Conference Day 2020.

Submission of abstracts to be considered for this session is only offline, by sending a word document to abstracts@ssiemvirtual.org.

Confirmation of receipt to follow within 24 hrs. by email.

The deadline for abstracts submission has expired. Authors will be notified after November 19th.

Guidelines:

  • The abstract text must not exceed 2000 characters.
  • Drugs must be mentioned by generic names, not trade names.
  • Non-standard abbreviations must be defined in the text.
  • Must provide results and not announcements; stating that “Findings will be discussed…” or similar is not acceptable.

Abstracts format should be as follows:

  • Abstract
  • Case Study / Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion

Important note: As there are few time slots for this type of presentations, competition will be tough. Authors are advised not to be discouraged by the possibility of rejection for on the mere grounds of not being unable to accommodate only but a very few submissions.

Authors must also disclose any actual or apparent conflict of interest related to the content of the abstract at the time of submission.

In general the SSIEM does not accept abstracts from companies. In cases where there is collaboration between companies and researchers from non-profit organizations, the work might be suitable for an abstract. Such an abstract will undergo standard selection procedures provided that conflicts of interests are clearly stated in detail. If the abstract is selected for an oral presentation it will be requested that the presentation will be given by the collaborating researcher that is not employed by the company.

N.B.: If your abstract is selected for an oral presentation, you must be available for a pre-recording of your talk in the week November 23-29, 2020, as well as for Q&A on the Symposium Day, December 3rd.
